The Mantua Township Missile Agency, a local section of the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) will be hosting NARAM-55, the 55th annual meet for the NAR at the Harmon Flying Field on Bartlett Road in Aurora, Ohio. The event is free for spectators. Sport flier and competitor fees range from $30 to $55.
The event begins with check-in at the host hotel, The Bertram Inn and Conference Center, on the opening Friday.
Saturday and Sunday will be packed full of rocket launches just for fun (sport rocketry), as well as a fly-off among the elite competitors to select the team that will represent the USA at the 2014 FAI World Championships for Space Models in Kaspichan, Bulgaria. From Monday through Friday, the main focus will be various competition rocketry events, including Rocket Gliders, Dual Egg Lofting, and Scale Modeling. The sport rocketry range will be open all week as well.
Each evening a different activity will take place at The Bertram, including presentation of the entries in the scale modeling competition, presentation of Research & Development reports, and a benefit auction to raise money for educational grants and college scholarships, all culminating with the awards banquet at The Bertram on the closing Friday night.
Each year, well over 150 registered competitors and sport fliers attend NARAM.
